According to a University of Wyoming Study conducted at the end of the 2011-2012 Snowmobile season: Snowmobiling generated a total of $175.5 million per year of economic activity for the Wyoming economy. 49% of this activity is generated through tourism.
This same study was again conducted by the University of Wyoming at the end of the 2020-2021 Snowmobile season: Snowmobiling generated a total of $255 million per year of economic activity for the Wyoming economy. In the updated study 61% of this activity is generated by nonresident snowmobilers.
The largest amount of nonresident snowmobile use typically comes from people who live in Minnesota, Colorado, Iowa, South Dakota, Montana, Wisconsin, North Dakota, Nebraska, Utah, and Idaho.
