Cooke City Winter Tourism – Local Businesses Thriving

“Since the first of the year bookings for guided trips have been brisk and we are extremely busy for the months of February and March. Talking to other local guide services, they see a similar pattern.” – Ben Zavora, Co-Owner of Beartooth Powder Guides

“The Elk Horn Lodge has been comparing occupancy between the Winter of 2019 and 2022/2023.  I used 2019 as it was a good snow year and pre-covid. Our December 2022 Occupancy is up 9% from 2019.    Using the dates of January 1 – January 21st our January 2023 Occupancy is already up 12% from 2019.   Skier visits are also up! We currently have 3 rooms occupied for 5 nights with skiers from France!  We had skiers touring Yellowstone Park backcountry for 5 nights this month too.  We have also seen an uptick in Skiers taking the Avalanche Courses. We are having a great Winter!”Elk Horn Lodge

“The Cooke City Sinclair is having a busier winter than last year. Snow tourism makes up the majority of our clientele with lots of skiers and snowmobilers and a handful of wildlife watchers.” – Cooke City Sinclair

Looking at our data, regardless of the quality of the snow year, Antlers Lodge both in lodging and the restaurant continues to see a 10% growth on average each year.” Antlers Lodge
